About Me

Photography is not just my work, its my passion. My desire for photography stems from an artistic background dating back several generations. My father, grandfather and great grandfather all captured the emotion of art with a brush. Nurture did not determine that I would follow in my families footsteps, I did not feel the urge to pick up a brush or learn the skill of painting from my father. However, my genetic pull was drawn towards photography, creating artistic images with a camera. I fell instantly in love with the photographic process, from capture to develop then print - I was hooked and for those that know me best I am a huge lover of mono, I spent the best part of 4 years in a darkroom :)

As a professional wedding photographer with 2 decades of experience, Dan Akerman photography has worked hard to portray these special days in a unique, vivid and intimate style, framing your experiences the way you remember them. Often providing a record of moments that were just impossible to take in. My aim is to respectfully record and document the occasion, the atmosphere, the energy, the ceremony and the emotion, to provide you and your families with an accurate record of the days events.

Away from photography I love playing and watching as much football as possible, albeit my body is telling me otherwise and for my sins I am a huge suffering Evertonian….painful I know.

On the weekends I have free my wife Helen and I enjoy visiting small villages and towns around the UK with our dog Reggie in tow. My boys have all grown up so now so no real need for days out with Mum & Dad now. Music is a huge part of my life, also watching classic films and immersing myself in the wonderful world of art…..simplicity is key to keeping my feng shui in order :)
