About Me
Photography is not just my work; it’s truly my passion. My deep-seated desire for photography stems from an artistic background that stretches back several generations. My father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all captured the emotion of art with a brush, which created a rich legacy. While nurture did not dictate that I would necessarily follow in my family's footsteps, as I did not feel the urge to pick up a brush or learn the intricate skill of painting from my father, something else drew me forward. However, I found myself experiencing a genetic pull towards photography instead, discovering the joy of creating artistic images with a camera. I fell instantly in love with the entire photographic process, from the initial capture to the development and eventual printing of the images – I was completely hooked. For those who know me best, it's no secret that I am a huge lover of black & white images; I dedicated the best part of four years honing my skills in a darkroom, truly immersing myself in the craft.
As a professional wedding photographer with two decades of experience, Dan Akerman Photography has worked diligently to portray these incredibly special days in a unique, vivid, and intimate style that resonates with the emotions of each moment, framing your experiences exactly as you remember them. My photography often provides a record of cherished moments that are simply impossible to fully take in during the hustle and bustle of the day. My aim is to respectfully record and document the occasion, capturing the atmosphere, energy, ceremony, and genuine emotion, to provide you and your families with a heartfelt and accurate account of the day's events.
Away from photography, I love playing and watching as much football as possible, although I must admit that my body sometimes reminds me that I am not as young as I used to be. For my sins, I am a huge, suffering Evertonian….and yes, I know that it can be painful at times. On weekends, my wife, Helen, and I enjoy visiting charming small villages and towns throughout the UK with our beloved dog Reggie in tow. With my boys having grown up, there is now no real need for family days out with Mum and Dad. Music plays a significant role in my life, along with my enjoyment of classic films, as I immerse myself in the wonderful world of art. To me, simplicity is key to keeping my feng shui in order and finding peace in my daily life.
I am very rich in life, happily married to my best friend Helen, and together we have two wonderful boys, Oliver and Jack. Well, you could say we have three if you include our adorable Cockapoo, Reggie, who adds so much joy to our family! :)
